Premio Lo Nuestro 2014 Nominations

Each year, the tropical music industry comes together to celebrate one of the prestigious events in the industry’s calendar, the “Premio Lo Nuestro.” While the rest of the world prepares to usher in the 2013 Grammy awards finalists, the tropical music fraternity is already prepping for the 2014 Latin music awards presentations. Already the “Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina” nominees for 2014 have been announced by the sponsoring franchise, Univision network. With 2013, being largely a successful year for most Hispanic artists, the list of nomination definitely has the who-is-who in Latino music circles. Winners of respective categories are finally decided by a popular vote by fans.

33 categories

The nominations were announced on the popular morning show, “Despierta América.” Over 33 categories will have different musicians from different genres fighting it out for the top prizes. The event is split into four distinct genres including Regional Mexican, Pop, and Tropical and Urban music. The leading artists on the 2014 scored five nominations in a position, which is tied up amongst four top performers. The four include Marc Anthony, Carlos Vives, Prince Royce, and Alejandra Sans. For Royce, it will be a trial to see if he can reclaim another big win similar to his feat in the 2012 Lo Nuestro gala.

Other nominees

Other nominees who have made impressive nominations include Calibre 50, bachata star Romeo Santos, Banda El Recodo, Noel Torres, and Voz de Mando who have managed four nominations. The late Jenni Rivera is surprisingly on the list too alongside Wisin y Yandel, Riga, America Sierra, Elvis Crespo Alvarez, Victor Manuelle, and Thalía all with three nominations. The 2014 “Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina” will be marking its 26th edition since its inception. The presentations will be held on February 20, 2014 in a gala that will be broadcast live from Miami’s American Airlines Arena.
